House hunters are snapping up new Gee Cross homes, with one family trading in their 18-month-old property in favour of a Countryside home at the housebuilder’s Clarendon Place development. Prices start at £439,950.

Having only recently bought their current new-build Hyde property, Paula (44) and Stuart Selwood (40) made the decision to upscale into a new Countryside home as soon as plans for the Stockport Road scheme were announced.

Paula commented: “Gee Cross is one of the nicest areas in Hyde and, having grown up in the area, I knew that I wanted to live there. When we bought our previous home, we thought it was a shame that nothing had been done with the land near the Tameside College site, as it would make a perfect housing location… Shortly after moving in, the signs went up for Clarendon Place!”

The couple and their two daughters, Grace (13) and Cora (10), picked up the keys to their new five-bedroom home this week and are preparing for the big move.

“There are a number of wonderful house designs at Clarendon Place, but the Montgomery has some amazing and exclusive features. The main living area is extremely private as it’s located at the back of the house and leads into the garden – luckily for us, we have one of the largest gardens in the development.”

The Montgomery is one of Countryside’s most unique and stylish home designs; with a separate double garage, garden-adjacent living area with French doors, open-plan kitchen and dining and five bedrooms spread over three floors.

The couple will be upscaling from their four-bedroom property into a five-bedroom home using Countryside’s Part Exchange scheme, through which buyers can move without the worry of selling their existing home on the open market.

Paula added: “Moving house is always stressful as there’s so many factors to consider. Using Countryside’s Part Exchange initiative did help the buying process go quite quickly and we had the keys in around eight weeks.”

Peter Vella, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at Countryside, commented: “Larger homes are a crucial part of the housing cycle, as families need extra space as they grow. I’m very pleased to hear that we have enabled the Selwoods to secure their perfect home in their dream neighbourhood, through one of our own home buying initiatives.

“Clarendon Place really is a beautiful development that has grown in popularity since its launch in August. Its leafy and peaceful surroundings have been a big hit with buyers as it gives this exclusive development that extra ‘wow’ factor.”
